Derek Underwood is the founder and a Senior Consultant at U-Group Consultants. He is best known as a Small Business Advocate. He is a staunch supporter of the small business community because he IS that community. He fully understands their needs, and this enables him to Restructure and Mediate their debts as well as Acquire Capital to aid his clients in avoiding litigation and insolvency.

Derek's Background

Prior to starting a consulting business, Derek was in the United States Army and served two tour of duties in Iraq. He spent 3 years as a Case Manager for asbestos related claims as well as adjudicating for Social Security Disability. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Delaware State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. His refined  negotiation skills were honed at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza Business School where he received an Executive Certification in Negotiations. He completed 40 Hours of NC Superior Court Mediation Training to solidify his work as top-notch Small Business Advocate.
